Bradford Council commissioned Raven Staging to design and fabricate 40 collapsible 6-seater picnic benches and 40 box hedge planters for the Bradford Summer Garden — a pop-up outdoor event space in Bradford city centre. The brief was twofold: provide functional event infrastructure for the summer activation, while also creating assets with genuine legacy value for the city.
Both deliverables have fulfilled that remit. The picnic benches remain in active use across Bradford Council events, and the box hedge planters have since become a staple piece of infrastructure in the Bradford events toolkit — performing the task of crowd and zone delineation that standard hoarding or fencing would otherwise handle, but with considerably more character.
The project also included bespoke hand-cut decorative timber pieces, produced in-house, which demonstrate the breadth of craft work the Raven fabrication team can turn its hand to alongside structural and event infrastructure builds.
