Sirens was created by Studio McGuire as a large-scale water projection installation, developed from early tests projecting onto water. Raven Staging was brought in to turn that concept into a full-scale system for touring outdoor waterside venues.
We designed, fabricated, and installed a 9m × 6m submersible screen, rigged just below the surface so that imagery projected from above appeared to sit within the water. Setting the screen at the right depth varied with each location's tides, water clarity, access, and mooring restrictions.
The installation toured three festivals — Floodlights at Princes Quay, Hull; LightWaves at Salford Quays, Manchester; and Bristol Light Festival at Bristol Harbourside — adapted to each site. Covered projection towers were designed and supplied as part of the package.
